The few black and white photographs relating to the 1951 Mystery Plays production are stored as YMP/A/1. No colour photos have been found. Here is a scanned tiny photograph of the set in preparation - a workman carries a hammer. Below is a photo among the ruins of St Mary's Abbey of a rehearsal - cast in costumes mix with crew
The archive now has photographs of a ball on 15 June 1951 in York Assembly Rooms, with all the dancers in Georgian satin costumes. It featured in the national magazine The Sketch. For larger images, please contact the archivist.
