Description: York Evening Press article, 7 March 1984.  "There is no reason why the Plays should not have a black God. Keith Jefferson is cast for the role in 1984 Mystery Plays." He was a local teacher, and his casting was the focus of a lot of the media interest that year.  Similarly in 1996 when a woman was cast to play God - Ruth Ford - the media focussed on her role.
