Article by  Michael Hickling, Photograph with caption: 'Simon Ward, left, and Christopher Timothy, drink to the success of the York Mystery Plays.' some text missing.  Apparently the actor Simon Ward playing Jesus that year was anxious whether the cross would fall over.  Christopher Timothy had played Jesus in 1980.   The choice of black teacher and actor Keith Jefferson created a lot of media interest in this year.
