Description:
York Mystery Plays Supporters Trust, with Paul Toy as Director, produced a run of Nativity Plays in 2025. On 29 November at St Hilda's Church Hall; on 2 and 4 December at St Mary Bishophill Junior; on 6 December at St Mary's Haxby; on 10 December at All Saints North Street. Using medieval scripts from the York Cycle of Mystery Plays and music both medieval and folk (led by Jonathan Brockbank) they told a familiar story of a marvellous birth, threaded with humour, with reverence, and sadly, hatred; candlelight emphasised the struggle of the light against the darkness.
