"York's troubled Festival and Mystery Plays have a new marketing manager to help steer them towards success. George Mackley, of Skipton, has been appointed to promote the leisure and arts event. The three-week festival is due to run in June and July next year. Former artistic director Margaret Sheehy was sacked last month."
The Mystery Plays had last been produced in Museum Gardens in 1988 and were next performed in the Theatre Royal in 1992.
