Item type: Delma Tomlin Personal Folder
Archive reference: YMP/O/4/4
Date/year: 1984
Description: Photocopy of diary entry from 1984.  Darrell Buttery's diary entry (Local teacher, historian, former Governor of Merchant Sdventurers of York, later President of York Civic Trust) gave his reactions having viewed the Mystery Plays in Museum Gardens. The original diary is in the archive of the Borthwick Institute at the University of York.  Simon Ward was the professional actor who played Christ in that year.  But a lot of the publicity was about the fact that a local teacher, a black American, played God.
